Job Description

Agency Training focus - Designs, develops and delivers training programs with a focus on agency activities. Identifies ways to continuously improve learning programs and tie programs to the strategic vision of Marketing and Agency Relations. Drive line of business and product training process for internal and external stakeholders in both design and implementation.



Agency Training focus for Training Specialist II


  • Responsible for the Certified Authority in Workers' Compensation program (CAWC) including program design and updates.
  • Responsible for the coordination of the material found on the agency training website. Coordination includes the class schedule along with the website display and accuracy of content.
  • Make recommendations on continuing education opportunities for field staff focusing on marketing and underwriting skills.
  • Coordinate with brand field operations to identify educational and advisory opportunities for policyholders and prospects.
  • Responsible for appropriate CE approvals in states where classes are taught.
  • Responsible for multi functional groups across the enterprise to develop innovative training programs for internal and external customers as it relates to the scope of this position.
  • Coordinates special projects of behalf of management, as assigned.
  • Mentors other team members by providing guidance, advice, encouragement, and motivation employees in their daily efforts.
  • Develop recommendations to change related existing policies and programs.
  • Actively support and participate in creation of an enterprise-wide service level agreement program.
  • Train and develop staff, as necessary.

    EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:



    EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT

    EXPERIENCE:



    Bachelor degree in Communications, Education, Business or related field. Master's degree preferred. Progress toward, or completion of, industry-recognized professional designation preferred. Continuous learning required, as defined by AFHI's learning philosophy. Certification, or progress toward, highly preferred and encouraged.

    Training Specialist II - Agency Training:

    Five (5) years in an education or training environment which provides the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities with demonstrated application of knowledge in adult education or instructional design.

    Or, three (3) years experience in insurance underwriting, claims, loss control or sales, with demonstrated public speaking, researching and training skills and two years of property & casualty experience. Workers compensation insurance industry experience preferred.



    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:



    Training Specialist II - Agency Training


  • All SKA required for Training Specialist I, plus:
  • Mastery of adult learning concepts and how to present material in the appropriate format.
  • Ability to effectively train and teach others in the delivery of training material and adult learning principles.
  • Ability to understand business needs and conceptualize and implement processes and procedures that support business strategies.
  • Demonstrated superior judgment and analytical abilities to analyze programs, needs and identify corrective action.



    Desirable Education, Experience and/or Skills/Abilities:


  • Experience in a setting that provides insurance industry experience
  • Demonstrated application of conducting needs assessment and job task analysis
  • Thorough knowledge of eLearning theories and technology usage
  • Achievement of Certified Authority on Workers' Compensation (CAWC) designation within 6 months of hire.







    WORKING CONDITIONS:



    Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Position requires up to 50% travel. Must possess a valid driver's license with a record that meets corporate standards.
