Job Description



SUMMARY:



This position assists in the direction of the regulatory services responsibilities and makes recommendation to management regarding ongoing processes and strategy. Ensures accurate and timely response to insurance bureau inquiries and complaints, communicates regulatory changes, monitors for compliance, and fulfills regulatory requests from external customers. The lead provides oversight and direction for special and complex projects such as company expansion, and works with minimal or no supervision.





RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:




  • Leads the development of and the execution of the Company's overall filing strategy for designated line(s) of business.
  • Partners with, and influences as necessary, subject matter experts and information providers.
  • Leads the documentation of compliance monitoring programs, risk assessment and compliance policies and processes for all regulatory filing activities across the enterprise, including vendors.
  • Leads creation of process workflows, written reports and documentation.
  • Supports management on assigned tasks, project risk assessments and managing relationships to help ensure efficient and effective solutions are implemented.
  • Coordinate with business areas to develop and update content for new and on-going training and awareness programs.
  • Leads documentation of standards and procedures related to regulatory filings.
  • Investigates compliance issues to resolve complex problems and make recommendations to business leaders and employees to ensure on-going compliance.
  • Assists leaders with implementation of filing requirements as well as establishing and implementing protocols.

    EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:



    EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT

    EXPERIENCE:



    Bachelor's degree in insurance, business or a related field. Combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered. IIA or CPCU designation a plus. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is preferred.





    EXPERIENCE:



    Ten years in regulatory compliance related experience. Expert knowledge of SERFF required. Leadership/supervisory experience preferred.





    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (SKA) REQUIRED:




  • Ability to develop and present complex materials in a clear, concise and persuasive manner
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements with particular emphasis on filing management
  • Ability to plan, organize, direct and control projects while exercising high ethical standards and good judgment
  • Ability to define analysis needed and complete work when little direction is provided
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, written and verbal communication skills, as well and the ability to apply concepts to practical situations
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, within a team environment and handle multiple assignments
  • Working knowledge of PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and filing specific applications
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with the ability to train and mentor others, and establish workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise significant discretion
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Expert level of understanding in SERFF and other electronic filing systems
  • Expert ability to interpret and communicate relevant insurance laws and regulations





    WORKING CONDITIONS:



    Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards. Minimal travel required.
