Job Description


The Principal Analyst is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, implementation, and leading department assignments. This position operates within broad objectives to ensure optimum utilization of manpower and budget. This role supports the Quality Stars Strategy team to enhance and build the Star initiative portfolio. It includes researching new interventions, monitoring industry trends, evaluating vendors and vetting new solutions aimed at improved Star ratings.


  • Researches potential solutions/interventions that will drive Star performance across clients.
  • Monitors the industry for potential interventions.
  • Establishes relationships with new vendors and potential partners.
  • Supports internal innovation process, manages idea logs, and coordinates problem solving sessions
  • Develops white papers and ad hoc analysis and research for leadership and/or clients.
  • Supports development of member and provider interventions including the design, process and timelines.
  • Acts as liaison between corporate business areas and participates in group or committee discussions.
  • Publishes department dashboard.
  • Manages and monitors multiple projects simultaneously by establishing project plans and objectives to ensure goal attainment within defined parameters.
  • Develops lines of communication to discuss/review results of analysis to management via reports/presentations and assists management in implementing programs that provide solutions.
  • Investigates, reviews, recommends, communicates, and implements solutions which identify problems/root cause of issues.
  • Identifies and resolves challenges in order to fulfill key corporate objectives and responds to the demands of change management and initiates actions needed to plan, organize, and control team activities.

    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Health Care, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Relevant combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.


    Seven (7) years experience in related experience, typically in two (2) subject areas (e.g. financial analysis, planning, health care economics, health care policy, statistical modeling, business decisions, analysis, or business management).


  • Possesses and maintains an extensive comprehensive knowledge CMS Stars program and HEDIS Star measures.
  • Good analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge and use of existing software packages (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to establish workflows, manage multiple projects, and meet necessary deadlines.
  • High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
  • Ability to work under general direction, independently, within a team environment and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Clinical background a plus


    Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.
