SUMMARY:

The Managing Director, IT Sourcing and Vendor Management is a strategic role that continually assesses business needs, financials, and the technology vendor market to determine the best options for sourcing key IT functions and managing IT vendor contracts.



RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • IT Sourcing:
    • Define technology sourcing strategies for IT product, service and digital platforms aligned to business unit needs
    • Work closely with stakeholders to lead major sourcing programs
    • Develop and manage a high-performance technology sourcing function supporting all technology supplier-related and sourcing-related functions
    • Develop and implement all processes, policies, templates and reporting for supplier engagement and management
    • Keep abreast of industry trends that have an impact on the technology sourcing strategy, through external advisory services and good working relationships with existing and potential strategic vendors used by the enterprise
    • Present/update all pertinent supplier and/or industry trends to stakeholders and immediate management, and proposing improvements to existing strategies
  • IT Vendor Management:
    • Classify and rationalize the vendor portfolio so that focus can be applied to the most strategically important vendor relationships/engagements
    • Maintain an inventory of vendor spend (in collaboration with other areas, such as finance and procurement) by category (software, hardware, telecom, staff augmentation, services), cost center and region
    • Manage strategic vendor relationships as the key point of contact
    • Serve as a point of escalation for key vendor issues and disputes, and drive those issues to resolution
    • Manage the communication process with strategic vendors, including what information should be communicated, when and by whom, to ensure that appropriate leverage is preserved
    • Maintain vendor risk assessments or risk registers in cooperation with risk, privacy, business continuity and security teams
    • Partner with other areas of the business (procurement, finance) to track and report on vendor financial viability, business continuity, and corporate and regulatory compliance
    • Provide oversight to vendor audits where required; arrange and direct departmental activities and schedules
  • This role must also be an effective change agent, working with senior leadership within the business and IT teams to drive enduring changes to how the organization sources technology. In this role, the individual will regularly interact with key IT leaders and business leaders to balance cost, risk and speed in order to ensure that the business is able to realize its objectives. The skills to influence and drive change, combined with the drive to deliver results per the goals set, will enable the managing director of technology sourcing to support the rapid evolution of digital business.
  • Develops, tracks, and controls operating (OPEX) and capital (CAPEX) budgets in partnership with Emerging Markets' Finance and IT Performance Management functions

DIRECTION EXERCISED:

Directly supervises exempt and non-exempt staff in accordance with company policies and applicable Federal and State Laws. Responsibilities include but are not limited to effectively interviewing, hiring, terminating, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; supporting and encouraging the engagement process.
