SUMMARY:

This job develops, implements and monitors programs that promote diversity and inclusion within the company and will report directly to the Director of Diversity and Inclusion. This role is responsible for developing training and initiatives to create and foster an open and inclusive environment. The diversity specialist serves as the HR ombudsman for diversity issues. The diversity specialists assists with facilitating administrative, presentation development, and scheduling support for diversity and inclusion initiatives. The diversity specialists assists with consulting the organization's business unit leaders in developing and integrating diversity goals and strategies into all business and planning processes and practices. The diversity specialists complies management reports in support of the organization's diversity business case and strategic direction.



RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Assists with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce for the organization.
  • Develops training schedules to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences and how these unique qualities can be leveraged to assist in advancing company business plans.
  • Facilitates diversity related administrative tasks such as scheduling, program or event participation tracking, and presentation development utilizing tools such as PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Creates or coordinates purchase of e-learning diversity training materials and coordinates online training
  • Analyzes employee and volunteer opinion surveys, member satisfaction surveys, and other organizational culture audits, and prepares reports for senior management to inform decision making.
  • Develops metrics for measuring the effectiveness of corporate diversity initiatives implemented and prepares quarterly reports to senior management on the value of the initiatives.
  • Determines the appropriateness of introducing diversity initiatives and considers the unique needs of the organization.
  • Provides consultation and technical support to Senior Management in the implementation of organizational diversity goals, objectives, and strategies and develops/communicates plans to meet established goals.
  • Participates in development of annual departmental budget, monitor budget and identify budget discrepancies. Research budgetary alternatives and make recommendations.
  • Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.
  • Keeps current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts).
  • Demonstrates cultural competencies and behaviors in all interaction
