We are currently seeking candidates for a Corporate Events Intern to work with our team of talented event planning and marketing professionals who coordinate nearly 400 events annually for AF Group and its brands, not only in Lansing, but throughout the United States.
This paid internship will provide a student the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge in a fast-paced, corporate environment. This position reports directly to the Manager of Corporate Events & Agency Training and will receive first-hand experience in event planning and the development of brand-building relationships.

Applicants should be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and interested in exploring a career in corporate events. The ideal candidate would be currently enrolled in a Hospitality Business program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and willing to commit to an internship for 1 year - from May 2018 to May 2019.



RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:


  • Performs duties related to the major functional areas of Marketing and Corporate Events.
  • Performs administrative tasks associated with meetings and events, such as event design research, event sourcing, budget creation, attendee registration and event materials creation.
  • Will assist at local events.
  • Attends unit, departmental, and corporate meetings as assigned.
  • Shows learning and both personal and professional growth and understanding of responsibilities.
  • Gains an understanding of how AF Group runs and how Workers Compensation Insurance works.
  • Shows punctuality, professionalism, and a positive attitude when completing assignments.
  • Manages multiple deadlines.
  • Completes miscellaneous assignments as assigned.
  • Uses company software applications to complete assignments.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Responds to internal and external customer inquiries.
  • Performs other related duties which may not be specifically listed in the position description, but which are within the general occupational series and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work.
