Business Analyst II/III, Corporate Claims



SUMMARY:

This position is involved in the creation, implementation and monitoring of business strategies within the Corporate Claims Department with specific focus on data and analytics related strategies. Core functions include project ownership and technical support for key business stakeholders within Medical Management, Investigative Services, and Claims Management. In addition, this position will serve as the primary Corporate Claims liaison to IT Data Services and Actuarial & Data Science to ensure accurate and timely delivery of operational and analytics-based reporting and other claim analytics-based initiatives (Care Analytics, Early Detection, Claims Predictive Modeling programs, etc).



RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS:

  • Provide project support to various Corporate Claims functions, (Medical Management, ISU, Claims Management, etc)
  • Query, analyze and report data to key stakeholders within Corporate Claims and Brand Claims.
  • Provide point of ownership for Claims Analytics programs and functions.
  • Act as liaison to IT Data Services & Actuarial & Data Science to communicate and own business requirements and project timelines.
  • Own and support various data & analytics-based projects within Corporate Claims department to provide efficiency and automation where possible.
  • Propose solutions for business ideas, suggestions, problems and requirements.
  • Define business cases and Cost Benefit Analyses that effectively inform prioritization decisions.
  • Collaborate with QA team to ensure traceability between defined test cases and elicited testing requirements.
  • Support capacity planning to optimize the effectiveness of the department.
  • Support estimation process which includes business users, development representatives, and testing representatives.
  • Identify and implement optimal process improvements to ensure effective capture of functional requirements for both enhancement projects and defect resolution.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations as necessary to communicate advantages of system and process changes.
  • Assists in the management of vendor relationships including priority of deliverables.
  • Builds relationships with key business unit resources to gain understanding of overall business unit direction.
  • Support Corporate Claims activities for business initiatives using appropriate project management methodology.
  • Assist the Manager with developing and maintaining the strategy needed to successfully implement projects
  • Prepares status and management reports as required.
  • Responsible for configuration changes in systems.

Additional Responsibilities for Business Analyst III:.

  • Collects and organizes data from various internal and external data sources to prepare analysis databases for report generation, statistical analysis and data mining projects.
  • Defines all levels of business and technology requirements needed to complete project requests.
  • Collaborate with Development team to ensure effective hand- off of requirements and identification of requirements defects.
  • Manage vendor relationships when appropriate.
  • Assist the data architect with creating subject area and business enterprise models.
