Job Description


  • Law Student Interns may draft legal memorandum, briefs, pleadings, discovery, assist in trial preparation and document control, perform legal research and undertake various other legal assignments as necessary involving a variety of workers compensation law, employment law and corporate law issues.
  • Conduct in depth legal research related to complex legal issues.

This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position.  Other relevant essential functions may be required.




Law school student currently enrolled in 2L or 3L (second or third year law student) with Bachelor's Degree. 


Proficiency in legal research and writing methods, and experience in legal research methods and experience in legal writing.  Working knowledge of the Michigan and Federal Administrative Rules, Court Rules of procedure and evidence, and basic substantive law.


  • Self-motivated.
  • Very familiar with and comfortable using LEXIS and/or Westlaw.
  • Strong writing skills are essential.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be articulate in both written and oral communications. Must organize and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to analyze complex fact situations and issues of law.
  • Ability to read and interpret laws, regulations, and contract documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.


  • Work is performed in an office setting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasional travel may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
